Wake Tech Celebrates Black History Month
RALEIGH, N.C. - Dr. Stephen Scott, president of Wake Technical Community College, has announced a series of events to commemorate Black History Month.
On Thursday, February 14th, Dr. Willie Gilchrist, Chancellor of Elizabeth City State University, will speak at the college’s Main Campus. Gilchrist is a former member of the UNC Board of Governors and has an extensive background as an educator. Tickets are on sale for one of Wake Tech’s most popular events, an Evening of Jazz and Dinner. It takes place on Friday night, February 15th. Entertainment for the event will feature the music of Chapter Six and Stanley Baird. Last year more than 300 people attended. Finally, North Carolina actor Mike Wiley will perform at Wake Tech’s Northern Wake Campus on Tuesday, February 26th. Wiley has more than ten years of experience in theatre and seeks to expand cultural awareness through his dynamic portrayals of pivotal moments in African-American history.
