Congratulations N&O, now you've totally confused Triangle area home buyers. My question is this, does the editor have a clue what their reporters are writing about? Do they communicate with one another? My guess is this, N&O reporters live in silos like other large company employees not knowing what the left hand is doing from the right.
In Case You Missed It....
If you don't know what I'm talking about, checkout today's N&O paper. On page 1 of the Business section (D) of today's paper, N&O Reporter Dudley Price wrote a nice piece on "MORE LUXE FOR THE BUCKS." Here is where it gets really confusing. In the Real Estate section (Section G), N&O writer Denise Sherman wrote this headline in the very same paper (1-26-08); "Triangle builders see strong start to 2008." Triangle home buyers, are you totally confused about the realities of today's Triangle real estate market?
Dudley's MORE LUXE Article
Mr. Price, being a veteran business writer on subjects like Real Estate and the Airline Industry in our area, does a nice job with his take. Plus, he quotes all the right TLMLS (Triangle Multiple Listings) stats to say that the Triangle real estate market is a "Buyer's Market" with the buyer able to negotiate for more home for the money especially in new homes priced above $500K. Buyers are able to negotiate for new home upgrades given the surplus inventory in this price point and higher.
Sherman's Triangle Builders Article
If you didn't know it you'd think the Triangle builders are experiencing a "booming market" and things are "fine and dandy". Oh contraire' Reporter Sherman. Yes, we are fortunate to be living in an area with solid job growth and the economy is fairly decent. But all is not well in the Triangle New home market as your article indicates. Yes, there are "pockets" of high demand but it's ironic that much of your article quotes builders in the Cary/Apex market and it's this same market with excessive new home inventories as identified by Price (and his photogragh).
No Wonder Triangle Home Buyers are Confused!
It's no wonder Triangle home buyers are totally confused. Even our local media can't deliver a consistent message.
So my question to you is this, who do you believe and what is the state of our Triangle real estate market?
Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Does One Hand Know What The Other Is Doing?
Great Post! I had a great laugh with my morning java! Let us extend the "one hand does not know what the other is doing" to the entire business culture today. Oldsters know better! Oh, yes they do. I am proud to say, "I remember a kinder and gentler time in America when "seamless communication existed." without blackberries, cell phones, faxes, and the web. The more communication devices society uses, the less it is communicating effectively.
Bravo! I support what you wrote!
