Sunday Sudoku missed their market!

With all the reader discussion about the price of gas, the war in Iraq, Obama vs. Hilary... I think we need to just stop right now and talk about something that's really important: The inept N&O marketing evidenced by a 'HARD' Sudoku Puzzle on Sundays.

Lets carefully examine the target market of the Sunday Only Newspaper Subscriber. First of all, we Sunday Only Subscribers don't care enough about the NEWS to buy the paper every day. Our secret reason for buying the Sunday paper at all is the color comics, the TV guide, Parade Magazine and yes, the Coupons!

We are not bright, intelligent people, we like to watch TV, read about the rich & famous, (which we are neither), we read the comics from cover to cover first thing, and we spend the rest of the day clipping coupons to supplement our measly salaries as a waitress or donut maker.

Sunday Subscribers are not HARD Saduko Puzzlers!

We are EASY Sudoku Puzzlers!

Get with it, N&O! Give your Sunday Subscribers a break! I try to do the jumbles, the cryptoquotes... then, I take out my colored pencils and try to do the hard sudoku and I FAIL EVERY TIME!! No, that's not true... once after working on it for 5 hours I did the hard Sudoku ONCE!!!! Maybe it was a fluke... it never happened again.

You have my permission to print this letter in the paper in your 'Reader's Forum'... I am an artist after all... a brain-damaged artist, but I am an artist!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Snow Wolff

PS  As I understand it, your reasoning for having the Sunday Sudoku a hard one is that you start with an easy Sudoku on Monday, move to the Medium Sudoku and finally get to the hard Sudoku by Sunday.
Well... all I have to say to that logic is: the last time I looked at a calendar... the week STARTS with SUNDAY and ENDS with Saturday!!!!!
     So there!  pbbbttthhhtttbbt!!!

Additional Sudoku Thoughts

I agree with snowolf on the Easy/Hard sudoku he made.  Why not do both?  I've seen several places around the county where the Sunday paper has an much larger section.  Word problems, math problems, 2 crosswords, etc, and would very much like to see the N&O go this route.  You can even drop the word search if you need to.

MORE IMPORTANTLY... I am really starting to get Sudoku.  I can get an Easy in about 15 minutes, a Medium about 50% of the time, and a Hard once in a while.  Which brings me to my point...  would it be possible to the THAT DAYS Sudoku answer in the paper.  If I'm going to hack away at a Hard one for an hour or two, thinking I'm making progress, only to find out that I've been way off the whole time...  ARUGH!

And who goes back the next day to check theirs answers anyway!? Logic puzzles don't really work like that.  You either get it or you don't, and I for one would like to check my work before wasting all that time.

Anyway, that's my two cents.  Who do I call?
