Welcome to the Richland Initiative's page. The Richland Initiative seeks to educate citizens about the recreational assets of the Richland Natural Area (comprised of Umstead State Park, the North Carolina State University Equine Educational Unit, Schenck Memorial Forest, the NC Museum of Natural Sciences' Prairie Ridge Ecostation for Wildlife and Learning, and the NC Museum of Art). The Initiative also aims to protect this valuable open space.

Our mission is to protect the Richland Natural Area by educating citizens about its natural and recreational assets.
