Heartland Hospice invites you to consider becoming a Hospice volunteer. Volunteers help hospice provide compassionate, quality care to those living with a life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers. Our volunteers work side by side with hospice professionals in providing comfort and care when they are needed most. "Frederick Douglass from Slavery to Freedom: the Journey to New York City" is a panel exhibition that explores slavery and abolition through the life of one of the most famous men in nineteenth-century America. The exhibition explores his life under slavery, in Douglass’ own words, and his escape to freedom. It will be on display at the Cameron Village Regional Library at 1930 Clark Avenue in Raleigh. Admission is free.

In conjunction with the Frederick Douglass exhibit, the library will also display a collection of quilts made with African-inspired fabrics. The quilts were handmade by Wendell Library employee Sharon Barrow.

Comedy by Neal Simon - This is the story of two elderly vaudevillians, Willy Clark and Al Lewis, formerly partners known as “Lewis and Clark”, who, having worked as a double act for some 40-odd years, grew to hate each other, and for their last year together never spoke to each other off-stage. In the eleven years since Lewis retired, they have neither spoken to nor seen each other. Clark, who was not ready for retirement, resented Lewis for breaking up the act. Now CBS is inviting the team to reunite for a special on the “History of Comedy”. They will represent the vaudeville era at its best.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. (July 25, 2007)—TheClassicalStation.org announces today that their weekly program “Preview!” will feature an interview with John Rutter, prolifically recorded composer, conductor and arranger. The interview will air Sunday, July 29 at 7 p.m. ET.

BBC Music Magazine says John Rutter is, “The most successful and well-known composer of chorale music in recent British History.”

WCPE’s Larry Kirwan discusses Rutter’s famous composition, Requiem, his lifetime of accomplishments and achievements, as well as his visit to the Hinshaw Music Celebration Choral Workshop at Duke Chapel, August 5 at 8:00 p.m. The Bel Canto Company of Greensboro will perform the Requiem on the 20th Anniversary of its publication. There will also be only the second performance of a carol written expressly for the Queen on the celebration of her 80th birthday year, New Year.
