I read the version of this post in the N&O, and they did not print your final observation about the win in Cameron, so I was going to put that in. But there was the comeback win against Clemson as well.

You're right, the heels will be back with a vengeance... and I predict Hansbrough will be back for his senior year. And if Lawson and Ellington return, oh my...

North Carolina will be back because it is still a top five college basketball program.
It hurts right now but the HEELS will be back chasing its fifth NCAA banner in the near future.

I'm so happy that both basketball factories from North Carolina lost, and UNC looking so pathetic makes it even more sweet. I only hope both UNC and Duke lose their next 463 games. But the good news is that both Roy and Mike are just about done, not to mention that obnoxious moron and Duke ass-kisser, Dick 'The Idiot" Vitale. I wish the black kids would quit coming to racist-redneck land to make the white coaches look good. Kudos to Davidson, however!

Officiating for women's games

We were so pleased to read in the Tuesday April 1, 2008 News
and Observer - "Let's hear it, fans and armchair coaches"
...our most memorable moments of the tournaments.

I was new to tournament viewing...and I regret watching
TV when Rutgers was playing George Washington Women's Games
and then there was no improvement watching LSU and UNC Women.
There were definite brutal and mean teams versus humane
victims.
I finally quit watching before the end of each game
because I could no longer endure looking at the expressions
on the faces of the injured and abused players at the hands
of the opposing team and the not so perfect referees and the
injustice of the setting for the UNC Women.
To call RUTGERS or LSU "GAMES" is an oxymoron is ever
there were such. The original definition of 'game' was "to
leap merrily".

I wonder about the value of such brutal experiences.

If one is looking for evidence of our evolving humanity,
some of the competitions leave much to be desired.

Awesome analysis! However, since UNC always speeds the game up (as much as any team in the nation) you can expect not only UNC to score more points, but the Cougars as well. The effect of the Courgar defense will be felt even if the averages are slightly higher. I'd trend the numbers upward slightly because of this. i.e. UNC stands about a 50-50 chance if they score more than 65 and almost no chance if they score less than 65.

When Carolina scores points is almost as important as the number of points they score. If Carolina builds an early lead (even if the score is low) it will be tough for the Cougar's to gain points quickly because of their style. If Washington State rushes the ball they will be playing out of their confidence zone. If they don't try to score quickly there might not be enough possessions to take the lead before the clock shows all zeros.
