Plenty of photos coming from May 17th

Just waiting on the moderators to post them as of this morning (the 18th). The 28th annual Ole Mill Crank-Up at Ole Gilliam Mill Park continues today (May 18th) so if anyone plans on going, there's still more time. By the way, yesterday I tried posting only those photos which I haven't already got copies of in my archives so if you would like to see some of the rest which is out there just click on the 'Ole Gilliam Mill Park' tag below this picture (and also after yesterday's photos show up here). More should be coming soon as I have yet to finish sorting out a whole memory card's worth of new photos from the 17th of May, and if the weather cooperates today, I may return for Sunday's (May 18th) activities too (which would add more potential photos to upload in the future). Overall we had a great time even if gas prices made the crowds somewhat smaller this year, plus there were a few more demonstrations and activities which were not present in years previous too and this was good. These added activities change from year to year while others have now become pretty much permanant fixtures here at the annual Ole Mill crank-Ups.

Also just making a note here, this event is family friendly and also provides quite a bit of good wholesome fun and education for all concerning how life was like in a village of yesteryear, thanks to all the hard work that Worth Pickard and family has put into this place for about 3 decades since they started constructing the grist mill (Ole Gilliam Mill), which is a faithful reproduction of the original Gilliam Mill which washed out during a flood only a few hundered yards downstream in 1928 and is the central theme for this much expanded park now.

Sounds Cool

Thanks for the tip! I could use a few new ideas for future adventures for these gnomes, besides the fact this event sounds quite interesting too. And the big one that got away, I love it!

Yep, Clyde's critters!

There's a few of these critters still out there in the forest surrounding the cloud chamber and must I say very well camouflaged at that. Since the early days many have however escaped the park but these gnomes, if they are not extremely careful could wander up upon one which is still there and not even see it until they are almost upon it. There may in fact be a few out there that Larry Wheeler is not even aware of. One thing I will have to admit is these gnomes have embarked upon a dangerous mission while in search of a great sign visible from the heavens above!

That comment could only come from a Dane (or a Swede or.....), at least with that first name. :-)

And also let's not forget to leave out a bowl of porridge on Christmas Eve just in case these gnomes have some visiting company from overseas, the Christmas gnome himself!

It is now said and known: We

It is now said and known: We have to take care of the Norwegians. They need comfort and someone to tell them they are good. Actually no one is thinking they are good - so they need this.

"Just popping by"

Somebody needs to create some kind of annual price guide to actual copies of various N&O editions released over the years. Some of these could be quite rare!
