I would have loved to have joined him and made photos of the inside of the building as all I have are plenty from the outside and surrounding structures such as the Chatham Mills water tower. I wonder if they plan to keep the water tower in use once all the space is occupied? In light of this past year's drought I believe it would be a good idea. Anyway, it was a great article if anyone cares to read, or clip and save it. I wish it had been a little larger and with more photos and on a single page but I suspect the N&O staff had no idea how interesting it would be. In my opinion, those are the kinds of news articles (documentary types) that should get special attention and printings all on a single page, or a special documentary section if there's enough material to work with. I believe articles like these could potentially boost sales especially if they are done in a style where people would want to collect these articles (or sections) too.

Several interesting items if you want to pursue: Where do they get the dogs, percentage rehomed, death records should also be public domain with the NC Department of Agriculture. And they should be inspected by DOA, so should be interesting. Their patented response is to "rest assured" the "research dogs" (minimize their value) are fine. I'm always alert when a the head of a CVM says
"rest assured"...don't drink their "koolaide"...think additional research and facts are warrented.

I witnessed shelter dogs in great distress throughout the summer of 2007. We are the voice of the voiceless. The public needs to keep an eye on Wake Animal Center...to be sure they keep making positive changes for the animals. Apathy means pain for the shelter dogs.

I can only hope we have a very mild summer. Last year, that month straight of 100+ degrees was horrible, even if you had a cushy home and air conditioning. The shelters were miserable, I am sure.

What is the story behind this photo? Was this snake in your garden? What kind of snake is it? Is that a toad it's eating?

I photographed a large male toad a couple of springs ago and the next day it became a large northern brown snake's lunch!

It was rather sad as the toad was cute!
