Here is a website that gives a run-down of the difference between a nanny & an au pair, what might work for you, and how to find someone.
It helped me
Japanese Beetle

I'm impressed with the colors in the beetle's shell. I throught they were just those pesky black bugs that like to eat my roses.

Japanese Beetle

I don't use insectisides on my flowers or vegetables, insects are a healthy choice for the numerous varieties of birds that visit my backyard. But, when it comes to Japanese beetles the birds cannot pierce their tough shells and I don't have any problem putting a beetle trap out to catch them.

It's all about point of view

That's its feed crop, no less so than the thousands of acres of flowers grown -- and summarily cut -- each year for human "consumption."

A Raleigh developer permanently destroys more of nature on a slow afternoon than a million of these little guys could devour in their combined, brief lifetimes.

Sandy Cole

They were truly fascinated watching her work upon this piece - in fact they were truly fascinated by the whole process of pottery making in general and with all that fresh clay sitting there on that table in the background it was just begging for their attention! This was one of their most memorable times at Ole Gilliam Mill Park too and ever since then North Cole Pottery's demonstration area has been at the top of the favorites list each year at the annual crank-ups at Ole Gilliam Mill Park.

By the way I was recently thumbing through a book on the history of North Carolina pottery that I spotted at a small bookstore and while checking out the index to see if I could find a listing for 'Cole' I found a couple of pages that gave brief mention to some of Sandy's ancestors from way back in the 1700's in central NC and also from farther back in England and Wales too, so the pottery tradition for her family seems to go way back!

I have a few of her pieces, she is very talented. I also have a few pieces of red pottery (although a little chipped) made by her grandfather. I was exposed to pottey at an early age through a family friend who owned and operated North State Pottery not far from where I now live in Sanford. One of the Owens' family was the resident potter, I think. That was many years ago.

PS It is so cute the way your boys heads are cocked to the side awaiting the completion of the pot!

NC State College of Vet Medicine

Several interesting items if you want to pursue: Where do they get the dogs, percentage rehomed, death records should also be public domain with the NC Department of Agriculture. And they should be inspected by DOA, so should be interesting. Their patented response is to "rest assured" the "research dogs" (minimize their value) are fine. I'm always alert when a the head of a CVM says
"rest assured"...don't drink their "koolaide"...think additional research and facts are warrented.

2 months before the first annual Ole Mill Crank Up

The top photo was actually made 2 month before the first annual Ole Mill Crank Up. There's been a news clipping from The Herald - Feature Page (13A) Saturday, April 4, 1981 thats been pinned up inside the mill for years, entitled "Ole Mill Crank Up planned for May 7" which is quite an interesting read if anyone get the chance to visit inside sometime, plus a number of old pictures and other article clippings too. Fortunately I had the foresight this year to photograph them all after so many years of seeing them but never thinking to photograph them until after the fact - this year I finally remembered!
