The Ug99 research budget cut was unbelievable if you ask me and I'm biting my tongue with a diamond anvil just trying to remain civil and composed about the issue and that might still not be enough... Just typing 'Wheat' into Google and seeing what comes up on the first page is plenty enough to show how important it is and where most of the world's wheat is (still being) grown, but for how long?

Sounds as if you have some farming experience in your past, Java. I fear that the majority of the U.S. population tends to disregard threats to the food supply because they haven't any immediate association with agriculture. They place blind faith in a production system which expects them to know little or nothing about it.

No doubt it'd be preaching to the choir, but you might enjoy a documentary, made a few years ago by the late Jerry Garcia's spouse, titled "The Future of Food." Eye-opening.
