I like the combination of subjects, textures and colors here. The largest wheel (to the right) appears it may have come from an old hay "dump" rake which was pulled by draft horses and this gives me a clue as to what the other two wheels belonged to. Cool photo!

Selma Railroad Days

Mitchener Station, built ca. 1855 - this happens to be the same year the original North Carolina Railway was built too! And just a sidenote here, they mined a lot of the rock for this railway bed from an old quarry located at Occoneechee Mountain near Hillsborough. Interesting how the railway connected the state together so quickly!

Several interesting items if you want to pursue: Where do they get the dogs, percentage rehomed, death records should also be public domain with the NC Department of Agriculture. And they should be inspected by DOA, so should be interesting. Their patented response is to "rest assured" the "research dogs" (minimize their value) are fine. I'm always alert when a the head of a CVM says
"rest assured"...don't drink their "koolaide"...think additional research and facts are warrented.

I witnessed shelter dogs in great distress throughout the summer of 2007. We are the voice of the voiceless. The public needs to keep an eye on Wake Animal Center...to be sure they keep making positive changes for the animals. Apathy means pain for the shelter dogs.
