Larry Wheeler

He's the director of the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh - I'm hoping he finds this photo as I find the German's do have some stunning designs of outdoor art. Something like this (or a variation thereof) at the museum park in Raleigh personally I would find to be quite an attraction almost even with the Chalice at Christchurch, NZ.

RE: New reindeer named Harley

Thanks! I had to be fast to get this picture, and was not even sure I got it until after I copied the memory card onto my computer to check out my pictures in full size before weeding out the excess. By the time I was hitting the shutter button he was already taking off!

By the way, I thought the background (quite unintentional and unplanned) was also somewhat interesting in relation to the subject, being suggestive of what other means of transportation were also available :-)

I keep a CATPA schedule!

I was there for the Roxboro tractor pull last year and had a great time too! Didn't make it this year though, but I recognized the background, plus it helps to have a CATPA schedule handy too as I keep up with these kinds of events. Besides the tractor pulls, there were lots of antique tractors and other old pieces of farm equipment from both Virginia and North Carolina on display last year and I think people came from quite some ways too. I've got a number of pictures from last year's event here at Share but they are way back in the archives somewhere... If they had some kind of search engine for the tags you might be able to find them all under the tag, Person County, or perhaps even Roxboro too - I know I have the county tagged as I alway tag the counties in which I take my photos, if not the cities too, unless of course its a big city well known in the triangle area - then I just tag the city. Heck, I've probably got those pictures from last year tagged under CATPA too for that matter.

For that matter I sort of keep up with the OTTPA (Old Time Tractor Pullers Association) too as they have tractor pulls also but with a smaller sled that's red.

Lucky Guess!!

The Oliver pulled in 3 classes (hence the movable weights) and I think came in 2nd every time it ran. Real low pressure in those back tires and they flex like crazy when the sled gets heavy. The steam tractors were not there this year. Still plenty to see and eat though.

Thanks Marilyn

My camera is a Canon Powershot A540 6mpx. I've had this camera a little over a year. Canon has made upgrades on the A series although I don't think there's much improvement. On some of my cards I have added a verse of poetry, sometimes corresponding to the flower or the name of the flower. Your bird pics would make beautiful cards! I would also like to know what camera you use to get your great photos.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing with my bird pictures but didn't know how to get started. You take such beautiful pictures! What kind of camera do you use? Marilyn

Beautiful shot

By the way, you should think about editing and adding a Mushrooms (exactly as typed as it is case sensitive) tag for this photo too so that it will show up with many of the rest of the mushroom photos posted here thus far. This would be an excellent addition indeed.

Sept. 12 Cartoon

It is one of your best. It hits home . Over 3300 people have lost their lives over a folly. They died valiantly, I'm sure. But, your cartoon tells me that the other 130,000 may be doomed to come home the same way. There is a segment of our population that doesnt care how many more lives will be sacrificed as long as we have a VICTORY. A victory that can"t happen.

If today's liberal media had

If today's liberal media had been around in WWII along with the bleeding heart politicians who question the credentials of a highly educated, highly skilled, highly decorated 4 star general we would all be speaking German or Japanese. Suck it up people. If you recall when Bush said we were going after the terrorists it would take a long time. I don't know your definition of a long time, but I am a Viet Nam veteran and I believe we were there for some 11 years and then lost due to the same unwillingness to see it through. I understand that editorial cartoons are supposed to make us think. Well I THINK Powell is an unpatriotic, un American, HACK!!

This had to be the most

This had to be the most disgusting thing I have ever witnessed. Regardless of one's opinion this is way out of bounds. I cancelled my subscription because of this. I could put up with the bias, the failure of reporters to do investigate reporting by not asking the hard questions, the misues of the english language, and many more. But this is directed at men and women in the military and their families who haved saficied their all to make a better life for all of us.

R1939 said

R1939 disingenuously said...

Thank you for the painful but honest cartoon. It shocks one, but so it should.

How about this for a shock.....

There's approx 100+ million Islamomaniacs that want you dead and would be happy to do it personally with a rusty sword or an Iranian designed nuke. Retreating to our homeland and placing our heads in the sand is not a survivable solution.
