colour refelctions

Thank you for your comment. It's funny how it was the log that first attracted my attention when I was out walking and still every time I look at this photo it makes me think of the mermaid statue in the Blue Danube river!!?? But on your comment about the colours-when I was reviewing it on my laptop it was the colours in the water that made me decide to "share" it.

I am glad that there is a forum such as this that helps stop foreclosures. I have told my friend about this site and she said that she will post her property here. Thanks again.

Since the hook is on the outside, I guess this must have been some kind of utility building.

Fall's Gold

The original is absolutely stunning! I see you have discovered how autumn's background reflections in water can add a huge amount of beautiful background to surround the subject. Wonderful job!

Screen Door

I see they used countersink screws in the upper door hinge, bug screen in the top section and ½ inch chicken wire mesh in the bottom section of the door, and all those old autumn leaves fell and got packed in there between the doors until the screen door was attempted to be opened sometime just before the photo was made.

Okay, so we have leaves behind door number 1
but behind door number 2... this is captivating!

I saw that too - made me chuckle a bit. Looks like he was OK though as he got back up in a hurry and continued about his business. That few seconds definitely added a bit of unexpected humour to the YouTube clip! :)

Did you both watch the Youtube and spot the poor guy walking backwards with his camera? It looks painful (but I have to confess it made me giggle) :)

Thank you Java and Corenna-Waldo House

Thank you for the Youtube and the link. I had done a little research my self as I had a recollection of reading about this move. The article said work would begin right away on fixing the house-sadly,nothing appears to have been done about rennovating or at least protecting the property since it's move last December. I hope it won't be left to rot away.

identity of house

I am wondering if this is the Waldo House (home of Waldo Rood)? It fits the decription in an article I read, but I am not sure if it is on the right street? I know it was recently relocated which would explain the new brick supports but I'm not sure about the tin roof as I thought the Waldo house was tiled?

I will certainly continue my reserach and I appreciate your input-I am impressed (like Lilly) at how mucxh you were able to tell me just from looking at the photo-amazing and fascinating-Thank you so much!

a little piece of history

I have the impression this old house was moved here from somewhere else as the blocks supporting it are much newer than the house itself. Plus I also noticed that it may have had a front porch covered with an awning above it at some time in the past, and with the possibility that at the original site, it may have sat much closer to the ground than here too. Also on the closest end facing the camera there appears to be evidence suggesting a stone chimney with a brick addition going above the roofline was once present at this end of the house (in its original location). In addition, the vertical wood siding as well as the tin panels for roofing suggests it may have been originally built sometime during the mid-1800's as this was quite typical at those times, although occupied well into the 20th century as the retrofitted electricity hookups would indicate. Anyway, that's about all I can glean at a glance from the visual cues present here in this photo.

As for the picture itself - wonderful composition! (lots of info content too!)
