Wake County Animal Center Hot House

I witnessed shelter dogs in great distress throughout the summer of 2007. We are the voice of the voiceless. The public needs to keep an eye on Wake Animal Center...to be sure they keep making positive changes for the animals. Apathy means pain for the shelter dogs.

I can only hope we have a very mild summer. Last year, that month straight of 100+ degrees was horrible, even if you had a cushy home and air conditioning. The shelters were miserable, I am sure.

Thank you Java55. It truly is amazing the difference when you do it God's way. Since the the date of my last post (within the past two weeks) we had added 27 more people to our community. When God sees you're ready, He sends the growth. I encourage every pastor and ministry of every small church out there, hang in and find out what changes God desires you to make. If it's one of those really old lightbulbs that have the brass threads instead of being made of aluminum like they've been making them for years now and assuming this lightbulb still works, it will still probably outlast the lightbulbs like we buy nowadays!

I am the mother of an adopted daughter, and I have told her from day one that if she wants to try and find her birth family, I am with her all the way. Her Father and I brought her home when she was 5 weeks old, and he died when she was 5. I am a genealogy nut, and I know if I were adopted, I would be searching for my family. I am glad the law passed. Adoptees have a right to their birth information. I think it is an inborn curiosity to know who you really are.

Update on Church Merger

The excitement builds as we near our Church Merger date. Already we have seen God doing awesome things with new families coming and joining in and old families coming back once again and new people getting saved; they are all joining the journey.

Easter Sunday Pastor Glen shared a message titled "A New Beginning" And four people stepped forward and accepted the challenge to start a new life with Jesus. Then this past week Pastor Glen started a new series titled, "Joining the Journey" And again people responded with excitement and anticipation. On April 22nd the church members will vote to complete the merger process and officially start their new journey together.

This coming week an article on the church merger will be run in the East Wake News, don't miss it!

The original post caught my eye because it sounded as if someone with just a high school education is now offering mental health services. Although it was noted that Ms. Gregory is a licensed clinical social worker, many folks like myself may not know what that entails.

Then I clicked on the web link to Ms. Gregory's new practice and learned more about her from the Biography section. She earned her undergraduate degree from NC State and a Masters of Social Work from East Carolina. I would have included this information in the original post.

I wish Ms. Gregory well in her new endeavor.

I looked for the article you mentioned, but apparently there are several papers or online magazines titled 'The Independent'.

I did read one such article where there was a debate team in Florida discussing how Walmart is the perfect business model to follow. The anti-Walmarts stated how they run the mom and pop businesses out of town, they screw up the road systems around the Walmart with added traffic.

One person participating in this debate was so pro Walmart he defended them ruthlessly. Naturally he was a member of congress. (note how I did not mention which political party he is with, won't get into political issues with anyone) Financial contributions for his candidacy I am sure!

Just for the record Wake Forest town commissioners fought Walmart so much due to the detrimental effect it could have on the local shop owners in the downtown area. They also focused on the road situation. Walmart moved in, but they had to do a lot of roadwork leading to the store in all directions.

Walmart is too messy and chaotic for me. Plus my first time wasn't that memorable in a positive manner. : )

I am sure fighting Walmart is pointless.

Now that you've burst your cherry, you should hunt down a piece The Independent ran around six years ago by a guy who has made it his personal mission to persuade the world that WalMart is the biggest philandering jerk in the neighborhood. I read it and haven't darkened their doors since.
