Tiny Toadstool

Cool photo! Looks like you have reached the minimum distance limit capabilities for your lens and camera's ability for macro photography too (which is very close!). I once photographed a very close macro of some tiny (perhaps 5 mm) orange mushrooms at Occoneechee Mountain at the Panther's Den area and noticed much the same depth of field limitations and thought it was a cool photo but not nearly as great as yours as your photo definitely has a much more interesting background - Love it! Excellent work!

PS. With so many different species (probably in the millions if not more) of mushrooms and/or toadstoods it makes one to wonder if all of them have registered species names? Also you might want to add these tags: mushrooms, mushroom (plural and singular) to your photo so it can be grouped with the rest of those already posted here too.

I'm glad you like this photo. It was overcast, but still a good day to take in the colors of the season. Got lucky capturing this pose with the boys, they tend to ham it up too much.

"the wall"

Glad you were able to breach "the wall".

I think you have just coined a good name for this effect as it must be giving the techies who are working on this website's structure a real fit by now. I am thinking there must be some kind of unique set of circumstances responsible for creating "the wall" - kinda analogous to the Invisible Electrostatic Wall once encountered at a 3M adhesive tape plant in South Carolina.

...either that or a team of phychologists have created a digital maze for folks like us to navigate through while they drool over their monitors 24/7 studying human behavior in an online environment. Just poking fun here. :o) Glad to hear from you again and see some of your new photos!

Boone hwy 421

Yes, after consulting my mapbook it was Hwy 421 that we came into the area along (I should know by now, we've been going that way for 9 years-LOL).However,we had never turned right on to the Blue Ridge Parkway at that point and so were happy when we discovered this beautiful vista! Sadly the road was closed at this point so we had to turn and head south, but it was so worth it for the magnificent views and scenery along the way:)

I just put the above in my subject line into google and found a map at the top of the page if that will help. Seems there is a Hwy 421 along with a few other roads in the area too. Great photo! Looks like someone has a nice retreat nestled there amongst all this mountain scenery!

Droplet Flipped

This droplet was hanging from the bottom of one of many small orange light bulbs on a string used the night before to light the way for the little ones on their annual conquest for treats.

RE: Flipped Droplet

Thanks! Here I had been talking about taking a picture like this for about a year(?) and finally it crossed my mind to snap this photo when the opportunity was staring me in the face. Funny how things like this work!

By the way, my new avatar is a copy that came from a blog I visit quite often where lately this avatar and many others just like it are now being assigned to different readers comments with this one being assigned to all of my latest comments - I guess it makes for a quick way for the blogger to visually identify who is who at a glance. When I first saw my assigned avatar I really liked it -- in fact I liked it so much that after a few weeks of seeing it and not even beginning to grow weary of it I just had to adopt it for here too. :o)
