At-large school board

I am 100% in favor of an at-large school board. I think our schools have been deteriorating every year since my children have been attending them. My 4th graders class has 28 kids, 6 go to special reading/math and others are disruptive and my 6th graders school has fights almost daily. I think integration is great but when it comes at such high expenses such as relocating children year in and year out, the gas it takes to bus every child everywhere when they could walk to school (pretty silly) plus I have seen where children with greater potential are not as challenged because of the underperformers and disruptive children in their classes. My daughter has a classmate that falls asleep every day and even snores in Science. The sad thing is that it is just ignored, that's pitiful - but that is what the school board brings to the table with busing and something that looks good on paper. I am jealous when a friend of mine leaves the area because I know they will find a good home in a better school district where there child isn't moved every other year.

Please listen to the people of Wake County - we want good schools but you are not allowing that to happen.

Wake county resident.

Wake County System is too Big

For once, my children, their friends, and yes the parents were not part of this years's annual reassignment plan. But we all know that next year there will be another major reassignment. We have been through it prior to this year, and I doubt we will be fortunate enough to escape these constant reassignment plans. These reassignments plans (or social engineering experiments-nobody has the guts to call it what it really is) dictates every decision that WCPSS makes. WCPSS seems to be more interested in shuffling kids, disrupting parents schedules, wasting millions of gallons of diesel fuel, and adding to the traffic problems in Wake County than providing a quality education to our children. The Wake system is way too big to manage these social engineering programs and I think that should be evident to everyone (with all the problems we have). I know that there is a great love by a FEW people to have total control over the MANY, but I know that a lot of us think it is time for the WCPSS to be broken into districts We want to have local control over our schools. If people keep moving into Wake Forest (and we have local control) we will build another elementary, middle or high school, whatever. It will be done with our Wake Forest tax dollars and we don't really have to worry about Knightdale, Raleigh, Garner or Zebulon's problems. I know that this falls on deaf ears, but WE WANT LOCAL CONTROL OVER OUR SCHOOLS. IT IS TIME TO CONSIDER BREAKING IT UP!!

it's like a divorce

Multiple transitions can produce a cumulative deterioration in well-being if the individual is unable to recover before another change. This is a serious hazard if an individual quits (or is dismissed from) a job or life role at the low point of a transition crisis, or if they encounter an emotional trauma while learning a new work role.

Negative outcomes: increased risk of severe crisis e.g. extended absence, quitting, breakdown, suicide. High risk of errors e.g. accidents (work, car, home), indiscretions or poor strategic decisions. Poor, broken or abusing relationships. Poor team morale, turnover. Down-grading career prospects. Frustrated recovery - rebellious staff, unused insights, dissent, conflict.
