Stood up and unhappy about it

Tim Dupree may be a great service technician, but I'll never know. Four hours after he assured me that he would be seeing me soon, I got a call to say he doesn't cover my area. When I had tried to give him directions in the early goings, he cut me off to say he would be using GPS. Perhaps if he had heard me out my time wouldn't have been wasted. When I asked him if it was his decision to make or the company's, he said the company's. Of course I asked if I could call to request they make an exception since I am less than a mile outside of Raleigh, he said, "That would be too much trouble for me." He then wished me luck and hung up. To be fair, he was polite and apologetic, and he did give me a reference to a different service, but from my perspective that's too little too late.

this repair guy was awesome!

Michelle,

I came home one day in AUGUST 2005 to find cool, wet ice in my freezer. This concerned me and several members of the, uh, Stouffers family.

Desperate, I flipped through the Yellow Pages, and found Dupree's Home Improvement. He responded quickly.

My Amana fridge was about nine-years old at the time. When I bought it, it was rated by one of those Consumer Advice mags as "Run, Don't Walk, In the OTHER Direction!!" So, I bought. Screw the advice - it fit the space I had.

Tim Dupree could have probably sold me a very expensive compressor, or whatever the most expensive part there is on a fridge. He didn't. He checked everything out and determined I had an electrical short in the wiring to the fan. 45 minutes, $80.00. Happiest check I ever wrote (er, me, not necessarily the check).

God bless the guy. An honest repairman. Y'all call him (plumbing, electric, painting, and pressure washing). Around Raleigh it's (or was) 417-5113 or 872-7731.

MY ONE AND ONLY CONTACT WITH MR. DUPREE WAS WHEN HE REPAIRED MY REFRIGERATOR. I AM NOT RELATED TO HIM AND I HAVE NO FINANCIAL OR OTHER INCENTIVE TO POST THIS REFERRAL. All I want to do is support and encourage and endorse the good guys. Shouldn't we all?

Hope this helps someone, especially Mr. Dupree. Nearly two years later, I'm still impressed and thankful.

Do you know a good worker, electrician, air conditioner man, etc?

This evening I noticed that my upstairs air isn't cooling as efficiently as the downstairs air. In fact it seemed to me that the downstairs air conditioner was doing all of the work. My first thought was, crap! My second thought was, who do I call tomorrow?

When you call someone the first thing you think is, Are they going to try and cheat me? Are they going to tell me I need something new, when really I only need some freon?

So, I thought, wouldn't it be a great idea to start a forum thread on here where people could post good experiences they had with roofers, repairmen, mechanics, plumbers, air conditioner repair men, etc.
