This team is marketed to

This team is marketed to play in the south. Small gentlemanly players that appeal to the soccer moms and ACC basketball fans.

This team has no real interesting players aside from Stall and Williams for the real hockey fan to watch. This team brings zero in intensity and grit. Absolutely boring hockey.

I'd rather watch fishing on T.V. than a Cane game.

Canes

They need to stop getting injured, this is getting out of control, I agree with the rest that said we need a puck moving defensemen, also the tough guy or goon they say we need, I don't totally agree with, I think they need more team toughness. They have big strong fast guys, Cole, Walker, Ladd, Adams, Brindamour, need to play tougher, and for gods sake Staal needs to finish his checks, he is a big player that plays small. One goon that plays 6 minutes a night will not make a difference, but if everyone sticks up for everyone, now thats team chemistry, and teams will realize that they are not a one dimentional fast team.

Canes to regain the Stanley Cup?

The Canes have no defence what so ever! They need two good defence men and a tough guy who can fight with the other goons in the league!!( unless this happens they are going nowhere this season!!) The Canes have the speed and the talent, the problem is the other teams have figured out how to stop them!

Canes & Cup

'Canes play in defensive zone is very poor, almost embarassing to watch. The team turns over the puck way too much in the defensive zone, even against a trapping team like the Bruins. Due to a lack of puck carrying defensemen or defensemen that can gain control behind the net the 'Canes have trouble breaking the puck out; every NHL team knows this, so the teams forecheck immediately, the defense pinches and the 'Canes turn the puck over. Two fo the goals against the 'Canes in the Bruins game were turnover goals. Kaberle can make the move to get open and make the pass but he is very soft defensively and rarely, if ever, takes the body. He's about it as far as puck carrying D-men are concerned. Solution is to stay deep defensively as a team and come out as a unit, even three across the back to break a trap but this is antithetical to the 'Canes offensive personality. Until the'Canes solve their defensive zone break out woes...no Cup in Raleigh.

They just merely have to find their idenity we have to be able to oppose a threat night in and night out teams that come in the rbc have to fear us because they know we are going to play HOCKEY and that we are not here to play around. We have to be dangerous on the power play and need to count on a goal each power play right now we are hit and miss on the PP for gods sake its a man advantage we cant miss those,we have to play every single minute of each game like we did the last 2 minutes of that montreal game that we scored 2 late goals to tie it up If you saw that game that is how the canes are capable of playing every minute of every game yeah its tough but thats why they are pro

3 things

Consistent effort

Consistent intensity

Consistent goaltending

This entire season, you can count on one hand the number of times this team played as well as they are capable of playing. You can count on two hands, the number of times they played as hard as they are capable of playing. Cam will get better as he gets accustomed to being a number one and his game will become more and more consistent. Regardless of the reasons for the inconsistency, that's it in a nutshell, imho.

This team is sooooo much better than they played this season, it is particularly disappointing, but the future continues to be bright. Eric Staal may have had as disappointing a season as the entire team did, but I look at it as a learning opportunity. These guys have learned what enormous pressure goes with being called "champions" and should emerge the stronger for it. Eric Staal has spent this year improving the defensive aspects of his game, which shows in his offensive numbers, but it is a very important aspect to add in order to be a good, all around pivot. As he gets better at the defensive aspects, he'll once again be able to assert his considerable offensive domination, because he'll have much greater confidence in his ability to be both offensively productive and defensively responsible.

It's the wonderful thing about sports ---- there's always next year!
