i've written a lot about "taxing the rich"....

that's where Edwards looks like he's going, along with a well-known venezuelan dictator.

all i can say is, if you read this : http://www.plusaf.com/soapbox/flattax.htm and still believe progressive income taxes are a good idea, you have both my sympathy and my pity.

He's talking the same talk that won Heath Shuler a seat in the House and got Larry Kissel within 300 votes of one. I'd say he's got a pretty good shot at it.

Especially if the Democrats find a good candidate to boot out Dole (who wasted all of her time raising money for the NRSCC and ended up losing not just six seats, but also more money than she'd actually raised), which shouldn't be a problem considering how much of a no-show she's been as a Senator.

By the way - all of those people who're moving to NC are coming from blue states. They may have started drinking sweat tea and eating fried chicken, but that won't make them vote for a Republican.

Would Edwards Win NC?

Rob Christensen, as usual, makes a lot of sense . . .

Edwards, the former senator and trial lawyer who now lives in Chapel Hill, has never been a beloved North Carolina politician. He didn't work his way up the system like Jim Hunt, Terry Sanford or Mike Easley.

Edwards' stint in the Senate was short and was dominated by his pursuit of the presidency. Even some Democrats think Edwards got above his raisin' by beginning his White House effort just two years after arriving in Washington.

Edwards has also moved to his political left as he has refocused his efforts from his North Carolina constituency to the much more liberal world of national Democratic primary voters. That is not unusual for presidential candidates, with Republicans such as John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney all moving to their right as they prepare their White House runs.

Given North Carolina's Republican leanings in presidential races, it is far from certain that Edwards would carry North Carolina. Gore lost Tennessee in 2000, you might remember.

http://www.newsobserver.com/114/story/542143.html

left field

Has Edwards been reading the tattered McGovern play book? Oh yeah, this is the "moderate" that America is waiting for. His silly efforts to OUT LEFT Hillary and Obama are taking him deep into the left field of obsurity. It's no wonder that Edwards couldn't even win his home county of Moore. Smart people.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic U.S. presidential candidate John Edwards on Sunday said that he would raise taxes, chiefly on the wealthy, to pay for expanded healthcare coverage under a plan costing $90 billion to $120 billion a year to be unveiled on Monday.

"We'll have to raise taxes. The only way you can pay for a healthcare plan that cost anywhere from $90 to $120 billion is there has to be a revenue source," Edwards said on NBC's Meet the Press news program. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070204/pl_nm/usa_politics_edwards_dc

Actually, I probably identify more with Mr. (Eugene) Krabs, and his capitalist zeal for making "money, money, money"! A true Republican he be. However, it is Plankton's tough, kick ass, and strident determination that motivates me.

And, you've got to love Sandy (the Texas Squirrel). Without a doubt, she's a true W conservative.

Of course, it is the lovable, goofy, and pathetically misguided SpongeBob and Patrick (the Starfish) that reminds me so much of John Edwards.

But, aren't we all GOOFY GOOBERS?

I think Tom Vilsack from Iowa or John Edwards from North Carolina are two men that could do the job.

In regard to Edwards, based on what? His ability to use "junk science" to score millions as a trial lawyer? His miscarried single tenure in the U.S. Senate? Him being a "good person"? Geez, Jimmy Carter is a "good person" and look what that got us: stagflation, a ruined military, and hostages in Iran.

Edwards "moderate"? How "moderate" is socialized health care and his desire to raise taxes to cover this governmental take over of the health and pharmaceutical industry?

Dear Judy, you may be 4th generation Republican, but you are not a conservative. Your mish-mash of confused liberalism and libertariansim really is a bastard ideology: Judyism. But, I still love ya.

       Doesn't anyone

Doesn't anyone watch Spongebob? Mojogogo has pictured himself as a "plankton" which is something at the bottom of the water or should I say floating everywhere in the water, even at the bottom. It's good for fish food. His name on Spongebob Squarepants is Sheldon J. Plankton. He is a one-eyed villain who is a technilogically savy, deep-voiced zooplanker with one center eye- a real-life characteristic of some plankton called copepods. This guy is the smallest of the main characters in the series and can fit into Spongebob's hand and under Mr. Krab's foot.

Anyway, I like Edwards and I think he is, as Judy says, a well-meaning and honest man - something we desparately need in the White House. Regarding mojogogo's view's as stated above, I think mojo or plankton, as he sees himself, sounds like he has a personal problem and has allowed this personal problem to take him off his bean. He reflects an attitude that is rash and irrational which is something we need to watch out for always in our perceptions because it makes us unreasonable and THAT can take one to the wrong conclusions and to acting like fools.

Further, I say, he'd better watch out for the big fishes in here cause plankton are good food for them and he could be taken out in a flash!!!

green weenie .. you're scary ...

A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

green weenie ... you're scary.

Edwards did make a mistake running as a VP with John Kerry. But Edwards is a good person; he is a hard worker; he's smart; he's moderate; he's sensible; and so far I don't see him prancin' to be on any Global Rule Ticket ... which sets him apart from many with their eye on the White House.

I do see him standing up for working people and people who need a voice and My God, Dear Jesus, has it been a long time since anyone did that headed for the Oval Office.

I'm a 4th Generation Republican ... and never in my life ... would I have ever imagined I would feel shame to say that.

I attacked the Pope ... and I'm Christian ... because that stupid man insulted the Muslims, and did so intentionally, then lied about it, and never apologized ... as if anyone in their right mind associated with any non-Muslim group needs to antagonize these people any further.

When you take on a Pope like you would any other when you think they are wrong and take on Walmart like you would any company when you think they are wrong ... then you just scooted up the ladder a couple of notches higher in my book.

I don't know if Edwards can win ... I personally think that unless the Amerian People start standing up and speaking out about the things that are going terribly in the American White House ... that the fix will be in to continue this Globalist Agenda irrespective of which party wins the election in 2008.

I think Tom Vilsack from Iowa or John Edwards from North Carolina are two men that could do the job. I don't know about Obama simply because outside of the war, I don't his positions. But so far there is not one Repubican on the ticket that I would serve a cup of coffee, let alone campaign or vote for. Maybe someone decent will come forth ... I still have hope.

. . . and attacked the Pope! At least, that's what his left-wing bloggers have done. If Edwards chooses to put these lefty hate mongers on his payroll, and refuses to fire them, imagine what an Edwards White House would be like. Scary!

Why John Edwards is an Incompetent Politician, Failed Statesman, and Misguided Liberal: 2008 Edition

In the 2004, multi-millionaire trial lawyer John Edwards abandoned his duties and obligations as an elected U.S. Senator, failing to complete even one full term, and pursued his premature, self-centered, and hopeless pursuit to be a player in national politics. In the end, and to no surprise, Edwards failed to win the vote of the nation, his home state, home county, and even his home town. In 2008, haunted by the legacy of rejection and insignificance, Edwards presses on with his hapless and narcistic dream to deflect Obama and be the star of the Democrat Party. His eventual embarrassing political missteps, and slide into the obscurity of defeat, will be fun.
