It is good to live in a place where people can voice their opinions about all matters such as these. I do have questions though. Why do people say Irish-American or Mexican-American or African-American? People trash the country over this and that, yet they always put American after whatever ethnic group they belong to. Now that is intresting! Don't tell me people do not love this country. If this country keeps so many people held down why do they continue to stay. I do not want to stay anywhere people do not want me to be. Unless I know that this is the only place where I can run other folks and the country in the ground without reprocussion. The longer we live in the past the longer it takes to get to the future. We are all the same in the eyes of the Lord and in the end He is the one we will have to answer to. Lets take care of one another.

That's definitely food for thought.

Should whites be celebrating it given what was done to native Americans? Is that something we should be so happy about?

Freedom and justice for all is a nice thought, but hardly ever a reality.

Blacks and whites alike talk about freedom in America, but will rarely support real freedom for the oppressed overseas.

Call me an iconoclastic, hater but I don't celebrate Independence Day. When the kids next door set off firecrackers late into the night, I'm the dude who calls 911 to report a noise ordinance violation.

It's not that I have a problem with folks getting the day off from work, heading to the beach and stuffing themselves with hot dogs. But as a black, African American, person of color or however you want to describe a descedent of enslaved Africans, I think that the whole shebang is highly overrated.
