Palin said nothing

She didn't answer questions, she merely repeated talking points.

She seems like a nice woman, and I'd love to see a woman in the white house, but I don't think she's got any idea about what goes on in the lower 48. She knows Alaska; she's perfect for there. I don't feel she understands that you need to be accountable to the people (although she says it all the time, she doesn't do it.)

I'm frankly very frightened that neither she nor Johm McCain are suited to be in the white house. He's too old, confused and erratic; she's too new and has pitifully provincial experience and education to be a president.

I'd rather have a president who is smart and thinks about what he or she is going to do than someone who shoots their mouth off without even listening to the questions.

re: hakPenguin Facts by Biden?

hakPenguin:
Regarding your statement:
"Take a look at South Chicago where he raves about his community organizing efforts ... there are more deaths in Chicago than in Iraq this year ... what legacy is that for Mr. Obama?"

You should check your facts before making such an assertion:

All of Chicago Homicides June 15, 2007 to present: 617
http://chicago.everyblock.com/crime/by-primary-type/

Confirmed DoD US Military Casualties for the same time period: 653
http://www.icasualties.org/oif/BY_DOD.aspx

To be fair, for a more apples to apples comparison, Iraqi civilian casualties: ~10,000
http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/

Warmest regards

Palin

I thought Palin was great. Why is the media trying to crusify her? Is it because she busted up the corruption in her own state and some people are scared she will step on some toes in both parties in the White House. This lady is brave and like some one we have nevr seen before. She knows how to stand up to the good ole boys.

Could the women be jealous because she has got it all. Looks, charisma, smart, goes after what she wants and seems to have a loving family and a faithful husband with beautiful children that she is proud of regardless of circumstances . She is an average american with integrity and that is something rare (honesty and integrity in congress. Stop picking on this well rounded lady...

Palin got through the debate by sticking to her briefing and avoiding issues she could not address. She has little knowledge of national or international issues. She should not be expected to. It takes years to become really informed.

Palin may have been a good hockey mom. Would you want a hockey mom to play professional hockey? She may be a good governor in Alaska. That is a totally different league from being VP and possibly being President. I have been a Republican all my adult life. I lost all respect for McCain when he chose Palin. I would respect Palin more had she heeded Dirty Harry's advice, "You have to know your limitations."

I will vote Democratic this time around.

How low can we fall? I am embarrassed to have the Republican party think Sarah Palin represents women in America. I am sad to think how much we have fallen behind. Weren't there any more intelligent women in the Republican party that could have been picked? How many decades of women's fight to be heard.. to have this lady as the VP???? Oh this is sad...

Palin, not a breath of fresh air, she's a lying viper

Palin pretends to do a public service by talking trash about Obama's supposed connections in Chicago. However, in fact, the very newspaper story Governor Palin cited in hurling her shameless false attack made it clear that Senator Obama is not close to Bill Ayers, much less 'pals,' and that Obama has strongly condemned the despicable acts Ayers committed 40 years ago, when Obama was eight years old.

Since the Palin/McCain ticket is behind in the polls by so much that Obama would win 330 ELECTORS, the lies from the GOP have begun and Palin started the smears with a speech in a fundraiser in Texas, with no cameras present. How do we even know? Because FOX quoted her, as they are now the face of the McCain campaign, since he doesnt have the money to legally address the public. She acts like she is doing a public service, but she is a lying vermin. I would say she has sold her soul, but I suspect she sold it long ago, when she began using Yahoo to conduct state business to avoid the freedom of information act. I was delighted to see that a citizen of Alaska is suing her for not following legal procedure in her use of emails.

Well good-golly, gosh, gee-whiz! So Sarah is an embarassment to all women?!? And what silver-lined cloud did you fall off of? If you are so much more intelligent and well-heeled,why weren't you in the debate in Sarah's place? Would that be below your 'demeanor'?

I think Palin did a good job, considering her youth and experience, It seemed to me that Biden spent to much time defending Obama in the end we probably will have more socialism
and depending on who wins maybe a socialist welfare state
so we really do have a choice

Palin

Palin failed to answer any questions. In response to Gwen Ifill's questions, she simply regurgitated previously memorized talking points. She engaged no issue and, to a thoughtful person, looked disingenuous and evasive.

This is a source of grave concern. The actuarial tables say there is a 5/6 chance McCain will survive his term of office. Oops, I neglected to include the fact that he has melanoma in remission.

This leaves us with a substantial chance Palin will serve as president. For eight years, we have had a vapid president who was controlled by corrupt handlers. Result: country in gutter. Do we really need to repeat this?

Lose the battle, win the war

McCain is left of center! The Republican Party is increasingly indistinguishable from the democrats. The bailout was a travesty. The republicans had a golden opportunity to make it clear they stood for sound economic principles instead of being a party for the rich and entitled. Well they blew it when Bush, McCain and nearly half the republican congressmen voted for the bailout. Shouldn’t badly run businesses be allowed to fail? The system doesn’t work if you privatize profits but socialize risk.

Two things we need to do to reverse the Republican Party’s trend toward centrism.

1.	McCain must lose. Not narrowly but by a landslide in Nov. This will have an effect of having future Republican presidential nominees be true fiscal conservatives. Get the word out to everyone you know in a swing state.
2.	Make note of how your congressional representative voted for the bailout. Vote for a dem if they voted for the bailout. Come out strongly for them (volunteer time, money etc.) if they voted against it.

The dangerous thinking of ‘anything is better than a dem’ will only make our party increasingly centrist. Not to cry over spilt milk but we wouldn’t be in this situation if Romney had won the nomination. Join us and reverse the trend. Put our country back on the right path. Our future depends on it.

Palin is not qualified at all!

Who wants a soccer mom to be a heart beat away from the Presidency of the United States? If that were all the qualifications needed than any of us and our neighbors would make a good President or VP. Give me a break! You need more qualifications than she has to apply for most RTP positions. I don't vote for leaders based on how down to earth they are or that they shop at Walmart!! What a joke.

Palin/Biden

Biden may have looked and sounded good, but isn't that what Democrats do? Check his voting record. I don't believe much of what he said and on the things that I do believe, I disagree with his approach. Does he really think that we are stupid enough to believe that they will not increase taxes on everyone?
Palin may be hard for the Dems to take. But she brings a breath of fresh air into this election. At least she has actually run a business, something that the wonder boy has not done.

Just say No ...to McCain/Palin

Palin and her "you betcha" scripted rhetoric, contrived, overused winks...I could just go on and on. Biden was looking at her like "What Planet Are You From" most of the night. Her little "around the kitchen" table speech was so pandering and obvious. I loved the way Biden turned that little strategy on her. And she believes that the VP has some authority over the legislative branch of our government? We've seen where that has gotten us with Cheney...further erosion of the constitution. This candidate is clearly WAY OUT OF HER LEAGUE. I will "betcha" she will not be doing any more national media interviews before the election (and yes all you republicans - cry foul with liberal media..blah blah blah). Let's face it - She is not capable of answering questions that are CRITICAL to this nation without a script.

As for Obama sitting down without precondition with the leaders of these countries - yes, he answered that question too quickly in the debate, but it's just been milked to death by the repugs. He's clarified that any dialogue would start at the Secretary of State level and not at the Presidential level. It's really time to let that argument go.
