What makes me sick

What makes me sick is people that abuse children and animals. My husband is a Sergeant wih a Departmnet here in North Carolina and on many occasions has gone to a residence due to animals being abused and arresting the owners. This trooper should be fired and prosecuted for the abuse he inflected on this animal. My question is how can an officer go and arrest a person for doing the same thing that this Trooper did? He needs to be strung up and beat just like the dog was. I wonder if he has any animals at home that he does the same to and if he does they should be taken out of the home. He has put another blemish on the profession of Law Enforcement.

You are uniformed

Dogs are very intelligent animals that respond excellently to positve reinforcement. You do not have to beat a dog to train he/she. This man is not a qualified canine trainer. He deserved to be fired and I hope the governor makes sure he is never again in law enforcement in this state.

Cruel Trooper who kicked dog

As a registered nurse, humanitarian, and animal advocate,
I am SHOCKED that Trooper Charles Jones (please see link to article below), who made a video of himself kicking his dog while the animal was suspended from a deck,
has been reinstated with back pay. What type of society are we living in that condones this sort of barbarism?

In the very least, this person needs to be arrested and punished to the full extent of the law, for committing a heinous felony.
Aside from the obvious sadism involved in his act, a vicious crime that should not be committed against ANY sentient being, it is well known that animal torture is a precursor to human torture and murder.

There are no words for me explain my disappointment and rage that this cruel, dangerous individual was only given a slap on the wrist (which was stroked and soothed afterward).

Shame on us, as a species that we can do no better than this to protect our fellow sentient inhabitants of the earth.

K-9 officer being abused

I am under the impression that the "DOG" is a valued Goverment OFFICER THAT ALSO DOES A VALUED JOB. Is this how he is repaid??? How very disturbing. Is that not considering ASSAULTING AN OFFICER?? I feel the guy that did this to the K-9 officer should be fired. He is NOT ABOVE AND BEYOND THE LAW IT SELF. I hope that this is not taken lightly and the guy is not allowed to work with animals again. Apparently this abuse has been going on for a long time. HELP THE DOG!! WE ARE THE DOGS VOICE!!!! THE DOG IS A VALUED ASSET. TREAT IT WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT!! THE DOG DERSEVES THAT AND MORE!!!!

I think that not only should

I think that not only should the trooper be fired, but all of the TRAINERS who encourage this behavior should be suspended without pay following a massive investigation. I heard on the news the other night that this idiot got his job BACK and one trainer was quoted as saying these dogs require "Rough Handling". HAs anyone ever watched the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic? This guy trains and rehabilitated rotweilers and pitt bulls and all other types of dogs. The reason they BECOME vicious is due to rough handling and downright abuse from bastards like this STUPID, STUPID officer. A note to Virginie above- people are not more important than animals. You are stupid to think so. If you must beat your dog with belts to get it to listen to you, then it does not respect you, it only fears you. Some good trainer, huh? We cannot survive without animals, trees or anything else that was created by God. Animals make our lives so much richer and at times, when children are abused, animals are the only thing that can get through to children. The horror and stupidity of people like this trooper and Virginie above, only serve to make the abuse continue. We MUST STOP THE TORTURE.

Fired....At the very least

It wasn't too long ago that Pittsburgh PIGS blew someones brains out for shooting one of these dogs. Other civilians have been arrested for merely taunting police dogs. This PIG in the video should be more than fired, he should be facing jail time for assaulting an officer. (For those who don't know it, they consider these dogs cops if YOU were to assault one) Of course, calling an animal abuser a PIG is an insult to fine swine everywhere, so I think we can all think of better names for this guy.

Officer a Danger to the Public Also

This officer should not only have been fired, he should at a minimum be fined, and at a maximum, jailed for his behavior. Violence is no way to train an animal. The behavior shown in the video gives me concern for anyone who may be arrested by this man and in some way make him angry. If he would do this to a defenseless animal, what would he do to a trash talking criminal?

Reinstate Trooper???

If someone this trooper had been trying to arrest had done this to the K9, he would have been charged w/ some sort of assault on a law enforcement officer....what is wrong w/ this picture? Why are they even considering his reinstatement? I am a die hard supporter of law enforcement, married to a retired officer, but I feel that not only should this officer not be reinstated, he should never be allowed to work in law enforcement again. He basically abused his partner and I can't imagine any agency willing to take the chance and face the possible liability of what he would do to a civilian.

It's called "Schutzhund"

That's the name for this type of so-called dog training. It's been going on for years all over the world! I agree that's horrible animal abuse!

Just Google "REAL MEN DON'T LYNCH DOGS" and click the first one. I first read about this a few years ago on that web site. It's by a former California police offer who witnessed K9's 'trained' by the same methods described by the NC K9 department, including hanging, kicking, and punching, with several dogs dying because of it. The officer with this site is totally against such cruel training and got lying and denying from those that did do it.

Personally, I wish the human officers who do this could get the same treatment. Sad the judge would think there was an "explanation" for this. Even sadder that apparently the NC K9 department treats dogs this way on a regular basis.

The few on here who comment that it's necessary training, do you also feel that occasionally hitting your wife/kids because they didn't do something quite right is also necessary? Oh, please. This is sick. Plain and simple.

fire him

correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt a k9 working for the law enforcement agency considered a officer, so if someone shoots a k9 that is a law enforcement dog isnt that considered shooting a law enforcemnent officer, so in reality this idiot was kicking another law enforcement officer. fire him !!

He should be FIRED

He should not be someone responsible for enforceing the laws of any state. If he feels his actions and treatment of this animal are fine then he should not just lose his job but also be put through the pain and torture that the dog received.

Of course he should be fired. Would we actually want to enable other animal abusers by saying this is OK because other people do it too?

reply to Officer kicking dog is SICK

Yes, I would like that officer to kick the wrong dog and get his "what for's" too but as soon as THAT happened, the dog would end up being punished!
The justice system in this state is obviously off kilter. I think the judge AND the officer should be terminated from their positions.
A regular citizen would have been punished for abusing an animal like that and the officer is let off under the guise of training???? That is total B.S.!!!

This trooper absolutely

This trooper absolutely should be fired and never should return to law enforcement. Who cares if the governor pressured them to fire him? He is abusing another living creature who gives it's life to serve and protect. It is disgusting. I have had many doubts about law enforcement k-9 programs and their training in North Carolina. This confirms some of my greatest fears.
