A mascot for the Easley administration:

Chunkie, who urges all state employees to discard their email sparingly.

And of course, Mike might counter with his own mascot for The News & Observer:

Testy The Ticked Off Driver and company

I have a few mascot ideas

We could have testy the ticked off driver...a little sterring wheel with his teeth clinched little fists in the ten and two position on the wheel..with the motto.." if you're stuck on I-40 east delays on a rainy Friday afternoon...don't be Testy."

Crowdy- The victim of too much sprawl and congestion.

This little guy could be a house with his lil arms squeezed down by his sides in an uncomfortable position and a really sad look on his face.

Finally there's Thirsty...Thirsty (up until this week) would be a single blade of grass in a North Raleigh subdivision hoping for just onedrop of rain.

Garby the Garbage Disposal

Garby is there to remind us of all the evils of garbage disposals. He spews grease out of his nether regions and is dressed in fatigues to remind us how giving up our garbage disposals is crucial to the success of our armed forces in Iraq.

Speeders mascot

You've seen them wizzing by you while on the highways as though you were standing still... You would even swear they were trying to reach near light-speed so the doppler effect could make the red lights ahead to look green. This mascot's name could easily become Flash-Bang!

Fritz and Blinky the unsynchronized stop lights. Stop? Go? Make up your mind!

Mosley J. Walker. He strolls across the street when and where-ever he takes a notion to. He's sure oncoming traffic will stop for him....or will they?

How about a roadkill mascot for the people who have been forced to detour the Capital Blvd. boardwalk which has been closed for nine months even though the city promised to have the needed repairs completed at the end of Nov 07, Jan 08 and March 08. Nothing has been done to open this section...

A roadkill mascot would be perfect because it just lies. Never planning to move forward...

Someone is going to die when a car hits a walker, jogger or bikerider who is using the very unsafe detour. Maybe then we can dress Vic Lebsock in pin stripes and charge him for manslaughter......

Sprawleigh the poorly planned metropolitan area!

Maybe Sprawleigh could be modest downtown area but have a broad flat skirt with tall buildings around the edge. Maybe he could even bump into things when he's walking around because we can't see past his suburbs.

I'd also like to see Cramsies the Sardine who is being packed into an overcrowded public school system.

Lt. Gov. Perdue mistakenly attributed a quote by Kermit the Frog to Mr. Greenjeans, which made me think that a good mascot to help rid the triangle of all its' trash could be "Mr. CleanJeans".

These current event mascots may seem sick, but...

To portray public safety we ahould have "Sitting Duck" or "Fish in a barrell" as a mascot.

How about "Harris the Parking Ticket"? I see Harris (harass) having little arms and legs, and he could be printing out a ticket with one of those little boxes. His full name could be Harris M. Daley! Get it?

"Arby" the Lonely Sports Arena (could also be the Far-Sited Sports Arena).

"Hugh McMansion" mascot for Raleigh demolition and infill contractors.

How about Barney Black Lung for the swarms of people that continue to smoke despite the overwhelming evidence that it kills smokers and the people around them that they force to breathe their second hand smoke - also could represent the careless state legislators that refuse to stand up for the health of children and non-smokers in this state.

The city of Raleigh has invented Rainy, an anthropomorphic raindrop in yellow galoshes, to be its mascot in the fight for water conservation. But the drought isn't the Triangle's only problem that could use a cartoonish embodiment. And that's where you come in.
