There are many cuts in the school budget that can be made before you talk about cutting employee salaries or cutting certain school programs. Employees that work for the school system could certainly tell you how money is wasted every day in our schools. You would be surprised.

Wake vs. Charlotte - let's look at the whole equation

Great! Let's also consider where Charlotte-Mecklenburg is SAVING. Charlotte-Mecklenburg no longer buses students for social engineering, and have made the hard decision to focus on education. Multiple studies show that shipping kids around does nothing for their EDUCATION and in many cases instead creates problems. Let's take a hard look at that $32 MILLION spent in Wake on transportation! Charlotte-Mecklenburg has created a system of concentric circles around schools, saving money on transportation. Children may attend school beyond those circles, but families are then responsible for transportation. Ironically, the Wake school budget article appeared right next to 'GasChronicles'. Think about the GasChronicles of our gigantic Wake County school system buses. $32 Million - even a portion of that could mean a lot of education and needed teacher support. Get your head out of the sand Wake County and see the bigger picture!

Have the top administrators volunteered to take a pay cut?
Seems like this situation should be a top down movement.

If county commissioners give Wake County school leaders less money than they have requested to run schools in the coming fiscal year, should pay raises and dental benefits for employees be cut or school programs like athletics and music and art? Should either one have to be cut?
