These are all administrative problems and I am sorry to hear about this, it looks like theaters are not as popular as they used to be. Let's hope this project will be successful and that we'll see the theater revive to it's real value. Now that I think about this, I really miss getting some theatre tickets to enjoy a good spectacle.

It might be interesting to note that Brad Crone who represented Randy Parton today has a relationship with the PR company that is representing the theatre that fired Parton. Is the kind of like having the same law firm represent the plantiff and the defendant? Check out http://www.fwv-us.com/content/page/id/35 Brad Crone is listed as an affiliate of French West Vaughn. Makes you think who is getting rich off of this one. Just another laughable way this has been handled.

Randy and Mike Nifong would make a great comedy duo ..... Dumb & Dumber FOR SURE.

The only ones smiling were the Poyner & Spruill lawyers getting $500/hour.

As a resident and taxpayer in Roanoke Rapids, I still believe Randy Parton was treated unfairly. The first public signs of trouble occured only after the mayor and a few of his council members won re-election. Behind closed doors, contracts were redone, and new deals unhatched with taxpayers monies. The city government always chose their newly enacted legislation that took my voice and ears away from the communities business into closed sessions. City council finally heard us, and offered to form a Theatre advisory committee of local citizens. It was passed, and then two days ago it was postpone until the city completes its contract talks with a management company for the theater. Cann't trust any public involvement? The community has lost trust in the mayor and council. Randy, as a citizen of Roanoke Rapids, I want to apologize for my elected city leaders. The same city leaders that accused you of appearing "under the influence" of alcohol, without any documentation from a breathalyzer, or blood alcohol test;dismissing you from the theater because of a morals clause in your contract. The same city leaders in Roanoke Rapids that have recently defended, and claim that its a "personal matter"; when Roanoke Rapids city attorney was arrested for the second time on a DWI charge. This is a classical case of small town politics.

I laughed out loud when Mr. Watson apologized on behalf of the 8 million citizens of North Carolina. I must have missed his call when he wanted to ask my permission, but I promise you he was not apologizing for me, and I think he will get what's coming to him before too long.

Randy Parton is not to blame for the theatre problems. What official in their right mind would put forth a deal where the talent runs the buisness end. Does Alabama run the Alabama Theatre in M Beach SC ? Heck no. Obviously there were no qualified sales people or booking agents involved with the theatre. I offered a $20,000 group tour
database (motorcoaches) to the business people to try and help them jumpstart their group sales program - free of charge- and noone even returned my e-mail. Even the average guy off the street knew this project would never fly without adding a celebrity concert series to the show schedule. Randy Parton went as far with this theatre as his talent would take him. The business people and planners of this project have noone to blame but themselves.
Do I hear the sound of a scapegoat in the background ?

The Randy Parton Theatre has been the subject of much controversy. Public records released by Roanoke Rapids show that Parton, brother of country music legend Dolly Parton, spent some public funds on alcohol, trips to Las Vegas and at restaurants such as Biscuitville. Other records raise questions about the oversight of local officials. Today, Parton defended himself, saying he put his "hear and soul" into the project. What do you make of this situation?
