I'm with you...

I'm with you. With so many people in this country spreading hate. It's nice to see that someone is practicing tolerance. Everyone is so quick to point fingers and say; "It's because they're strippers!" I've actually known some entertainers (as the classier few prefer to be called). Some were merely single mothers working a job that allowed for more time with their children. These women found time to go to meetings at their childrens school, go to the gym, go to classes at a local college, make a homecooked meal for their kids, spend time with friends & family, and sometimes sleep...and eventually...graduate with a digree in Nursing (and others with such "reputable" jobs). A few got married. These few are more than just women. I think they are about as close to a superhero as you can get! Now I'm certinly not saying strippers are superheros. No, no. I am merely saying that there is good in every group. As well as bad. Now all of this may be hard to believe but I can assure you it's all 100% true.

Your comments and so shallow & cold

Your comments indicate a kind of shallowness that many in our society are now embracing and putting on the internet, saying anything to be cute. Negating the seriousness of a death, turning it around like that with some glib comment, is incredulous to me!

This is a horrible idea.

A "mega" strip club? It wouldn't just hurt that neighborhood. This would be a blow that would hit this whole entire area pretty hard. I've seen what this industry can do to people and it breaks my heart every time. The money, drugs, alcohol, prostitution and degrading of women... it ruins lives. It especially ruins young lives. We don't need this here. Not at the scale they are trying to step it up.

The trouble comes from the

The trouble comes from the patrons not the establishment itself. The patrons that have a sense of entitlement that just because someone is dancing for them half clothed they have a right to touch them. Also stripper does not equal prostitute. An establishment that follows the rules is more likely to fire a dancer that does such because it has an impact on business.

And above all TIP people, some establishments do not pay their dancers, the only pay they receive are the tips from the patrons. If you don't want to tip just go to a normal bar.

It's simply if you don't like the idea of the place opening in Raleigh, just don't go. No one is twisting you're arm saying you have to go. I find it interesting some of the people that are complaining about this place, probably have no problem with people watching cheerleaders.

Create a new town next to

Create a new town next to Butner. Call it Titner. Relocate the Triangle area strip clubs there. Put up cameras and film everything. Broadcast live on the web. It would be a hit. The exotic dancers would get the attention they crave. The gentlemen could show the world that they are not losers or pigs but in fact proud patrons. Where's the harm!

Who's making fun?

Whether the unnamed visitor's story is true or not (and who are you to say it isn't?), I'm sure that there are people in this country who have been killed by Christians. No one would take it seriously if someone said "My friend was killed by a couple of Christians, so we should ban churches." No one should take it seriously if someone says that. Why should we take it any more seriously if someone says "My friend was killed by a couple of strippers, so we should ban strip bars."?

I'm sure that you (or someone else) are ready to respond with "How can you compare church-going Christians to strippers?" But that doesn't apply here. My point (and, I suspect, the other visitor's point) is that it isn't reasonable to judge thousands of people on the actions of two. If your friend was killed by two strippers who were fighting, that is unfortunate. But it isn't an indictment of every stripper in the country.

For sex try Miami Beach with its private bedroom bars and leave it there.

High class is bending over?

I've been to a couple of clubs with the boys and all I saw was a bunch of women bent over most of the night. I didn't see anything high class about that. These women will definitely need a doctor when they hit forty and their backs start hurting them for hunching it over constantly.

Don't make fun

The tragic death I am talking about is true, yours is not. The two women who were involved worked for Pure Gold in Wilmington. One was chasing the other in cars thru the WalMart parking lot near where they worked and rammed my friend into my her car that she was loading with packages. Her body was almost severed. They should rename that club Pure Stupidity for that is the kind of pure abandonment of any sense of decency when these two chose to take their idiotic fight over a man public and plow into and kill an innocent bystander. You should be ashamed of taking such a contrary and light view of this.

Yeah

Yeah my uncle was killed by christians in a car. we should outlaw churches. He was a wonderful man who's life was ended uselessly by two people who went to church all the time and talked to an invisible dude in the sky. No churches and the people who frequent them are upstanding citizens.

I would call bull to the value of stripping

What possible value is stripping? That men can get excited looking at skin? What's the value in that? Oh I know, I'm not a man. Men need that sort of thing outside their marriages and girlfriends....not!

My friend was killed by fighting strippers!

Just one year ago a friend of mine from Southern Pines had gone to WalMart in Wilmington to get a few things and was literally cut in half by one stipper in a car chasing another. Tell me this was a good thing. She was a wonderful woman whose life was ended by two useless women who had no regard for anyone but themselves and their stupid argument. No strip clubs and the people who frequent them are not upstanding citizens.

Dude, if I wanted to read fiction about the end of the earth, I'd pull out a Stephen King book first. He's a much better writer.

one example?

You're using one example out of hundreds that currently exist and obey the law. If all you say is true then we can use anecdotal evidence to prohibit all businesses from opening due to one bad apple. Drugs and prostitution occur at some of downtown Raleigh's finest dining establishments. Do we prohibit other restaurants from opening? Someone gets robbed or shot outside a Dennys, do we not allow any more Dennys from opening? Raleigh has one of the strictest zoning regulations in the country, that's why there are only two clubs in Raleigh and only 4-5 in the whole triangle region. Check the police reports for thee Dollhouse... you will see that compared to other bars and nightclubs, there are less police incidents... that's a fact. BTW, yes this is Raleigh and yes we still live in America last time I checked. Albeit it is your constitutional right to call people idiots... you need to look in the mirror first.

A local doctor plans to open a topless nightclub near RDU, the first to open in Raleigh in 15 years. Local businesses unsuccessfully sued to stop the club, saying it would hurt the neighborhood. Now those opposed to the club have filed a petition asking the state Supreme Court to stop it from happening. Would this club be a good thing for Raleigh or will "The Runway" be a detriment to the area?
