Yoga for Peace
Triangle Yoga celebrates UN International Peace Day with 108 Sun Salutations
To celebrate the United Nations International Peace Day, Triangle Yoga will participate in the Global Mala Project. A “mala” is set of 108 prayer beads used in meditation, popular in India and Tibet. The Global Mala Project (www.globalmala.org ) seeks to unite the global yoga community and form a human “mala around the earth,” as people practice yoga in cycles of 108. Over 35 countries, hundreds of yoga studios and thousands of yoga practitioners will participate, raising funds and awareness for some of the most essential issues of our times, including global warming and AIDS. At Triangle Yoga, the suggested minimum donation is $5. 100% of all donations will be given to the nonprofits Trees for the Future and Yoga for Peace. Two events will be sponsored, a “trance dance” with Rebecca Drake, on Friday, September 21, from 7:30pm to 9:30pm; and the Yoga Mala, 108 sun salutations, on Saturday, September 22, 1-4 pm. Triangle Yoga is located at 930 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514. For more information, call (919)933-9642, or visit www.triangleyoga.com .
