Art after Dark 2nd Friday

"Art After Dark" is held on the Second Friday evening of each month.  The Holly Springs Cultural Center, The Nature of Art, Java Divine, Ashley's Art Gallery in Fuquay-Varina, and now also Not Afraid of Color Stained Glass Studio are teaming up to host the art walk as a combined town event to celebrate local art.

The September "Art After Dark" will be held Friday, September 14, from 6 to 10pm. 

Visit 3 participating venues in this month's Art after Dark event, and get your Art Passport stamped to be eligible for our door prize valued at $85 for two high resolution giclée print enlargements from Van Crandall of Lighthouse Digital Media who is one of the featured artists at the Holly Springs Cultural Center this month.

Ashley's Art Gallery in Fuquay-Varina hosts a free reception Friday September 14 from 6 to 8pm featuring local photographer Tom Leonard II.   Tom's photos of still lifes and majestic landscapes, many of North Carolina scenes, are enhanced to look like paintings.  In-store raffle (in addition to the Art Passport door prize) for a $50 Ashley's gift certificate; raffle tickets will be $5 and all proceeds go to the Holly Springs Cultural Center (winner must be 21 years old).

Not Afraid of Color, Stained Glass Studio in Historic Downtown Fuquay-Varina invites you to stop by between 6:00pm and 9:00pm on the second Friday evening of each month as part of Art After Dark to see what our artists are working on!  Not Afraid of Color is a working, teaching studio and on any given day you may find some of our budding artists working on creations or Jere, Heather or Ray working on Custom pieces for local homeowners.  We are all about our community and would love to share our studio with you, so be sure to drop in for a glass of wine and a new experience.  Not Afraid of Color is located at 111 Depot Street in Historic Downtown Fuquay-Varina (right off of North Main St, also know as Highway 401).  Feel free to contact us at (919) 557-3700 or checkout our website at www.notafraidofcolor.com

The Nature of Art "Embellished Leather Bags" show opening & CD Release Party
Free Reception September 14 from 6 - 8pm with food, wine, music & friends featuring artist Tammy Phillips who makes leather medicine bags and purses with a Native American influence and a cd release party for musician Sandy McGuinn.  McGuinn (banjo, guitar and whistle) will be joined by O.A. Champion (banjo, guitar) and Charles Carlisle (mandolin, base) to play original and updated traditional songs.  Leather bags showing thru September 29.

The Holly Springs Cultural Center opens Photographic Exhibition of Images From Local Photography Club
Free Reception September 14 from 6 to 8pm.  The exhibition includes a diverse selection of color and black & white images comprising architecture, aviation, coastlines, documentary portraiture, flora, landscapes and Native American culture and wildlife.  Photographs are from local amateur and professional members of the Bass Lake Photography Club which meets every second Tuesday of the month at the Bass Lake Retreat Center.  Exhibition September 1 - 30.

Java Divine hosts local musicians of "S.O.S."

Is there a time that you meet on the 2nd Tues. of each month?
