Take I-40.
As of Wednesday, DOT plans to be working this weekend on westbound I-40 lanes only, so eastbound traffic from Chapel Hill to RDU will not be affected.
Unless DOT changes plans. If they do change plans (I don't think they will) and they block traffic on eastbound I-40 instead, take the US 15-501 (Exit 270) / NC 147 Durham Freeway detour, which puts you back on I-40 a couple of miles west of the RDU exits. Here's a map with directions you can print out and take with you.
Check our I40 Worrier site Friday and this weekend for updates on repair plans.
