Blue

North Carolina has modernized over the decades.

1. We've gone from an economy based on textiles and tobacco to one based on technology and pharmaceuticals. Obama is favored by a more tech-saavy voter.

2. Obama's arguments are rationally stated and backed up by clear documentation. As the state moves from a less educated populace to a more-educated one, Obama's approach receives more favor.

3. The national Democrats are (gulp) conservative! And so are many North Carolinians. Look up the US Office of Management and Budget data to discover that Republican Presidents' budgets increased the national debt by a factor of 10-to-1 year-on-year over the last 30 years, over their Democratic counterparts. It's a fact. The big spenders have been elephants, not donkeys.

4. Except for social conservatism, the McCain campaign is all focused on Obama and his perceived (or fabricated) faults. Obama leads McCain by setting the agenda, and the best game McCain can bring is to slander Obama. The slander has been a pathetic part of the campaign that has lost John McCain a ton of respect.

5. Most North Carolinians are smart, concerned voters. Obama may seem non-traditional, non-conservative, but it's not his great oratory that is persuasive, as much as it is the content of his economic, energy, and foreign policies that make sense. Smart North Carolinians who critically examine both candidates will see this difference.

6. The selection of inexperienced, oil-state, unremarkable Governor Palin really sent a message to the nation. There were literally hundreds of more qualified candidates in the Republican party. After so much positive that John McCain has done, this choice just makes you question his competency and judgement.

I really like McCain the man. If I ever had a chance of voting for McCain, it died when he picked Palin. That was a dumb choice. What was he thinking?!

North Carolina will be blue.
