It is very chilly here-the Islay locals were wearing what I would regard as winter clothing. We were so obviously tourists as we were the only ones fool hardy enough to try and wear shorts (in my case with a fleece and a winter jacket!!!). The average daily temperature was around 13.5C (I think that is cooler than Cary's average winter nightime low!!!???).
Are you having storms right now?
...but the storms never materialised on Saturday, just a few sprinkles is about the best we got here. Today however the temperature is supposed to get up to 34.4C (94F) with lots of our usual humidity to match and then tomorrow (Monday) the temperature is supposed to reach 36.6C (98F) and with lots of humidity - chances of storms this arvo and likewise tomorrow as well. Feel blessed that you can always put more on to stay comfortable (relatively speaking!) as when outdoors here with all this heat and humidity there's not as many ways to stay comfortable without staying indoors and in the process getting bored - at least I get bored if I have to stay indoors - so I usually get out and brave the elements despite the temperatures. Its mid-morning and sunny here now as I type and I still have yet to decide where I want to go and what to do... might just go out for an aimless ride into the countryside and see where I end up and go from there as at this time of year there is a lull in outdoor festivals between early July and early September so those options are basically out for the most part, otherwise my plans would be a no-brainer. *sigh*
It's so funny how the weather is such a big deal for everyone everywhere around the world! Every day we find oursleves trying to plan our activities and without fail the weather puts the kibosh on them! For some reason this little section of the west coast of Scotland is very hard to forecast for-today it is sunny but extremely cool and quite breezy-perfect sailing weather but we are indoors watching the golf at the British open. When we were sailing back from Islay we couldn't see 6 feet infront of our noses ,I couldn't take any photos and we were nearly washed away!!!
Keep your fingers crossed that Tuesday will be fine as we are off to see the Highland Games at Inverrarey Castle and then we are driving on to Oban, taking a boat to Mull and hopefully another one on to Iona if the weather is fair!!!
Can't promise any good photos as my camera is playing up!!!The dreaded "error 99" for all you Canon Rebel users out there :(
Off to Islay
That looks exactly like the weather we're having here as I am typing this except I imagine where you are its quite a bit cooler!
