I don't know if there is any resemblance to a complete field guide to fungi as I believe there are propably more species of these than flowers and insects combined, but jpo_05_09_07 posted a link for another species for me except I believe the page she was aiming for had scrolled onwards, but here's a link to the beginning, but be prepared - there are a LOT of contributions here!
Tree scales!
I'm nuts about tree scales! (That's what I've always known them as.) They're one of the most colorful funji in the forest; the variations are nearly infinite, almost like snowflakes.
It's funny, but I've never thought of tree scales as having a species -- as being classifiable -- maybe because they are as varied as snowflakes. That's wild.
Has anyone published field guides to them?
