Gardens are the nexus of mystery and romance in much of literature. What are your favorite books that include scenes of romance, inrigue, mystery, set in the garden? Your suggestions will likely appear in an upcoming issue of Home & Garden, deidcated to secret gardens.

A book with a garden.
One of my favorite books to read as a child was Mandy, by Julie Andrews Edwards (yes, THAT Julie Andrews). Mandy lives in an orphanage and longs for somewhere to call her own. When she stumbles upon an abandoned cottage, she secretly begins fixing it up to be her place, including saving her pocket money to buy plants, seeds and tools to grow a beautiful garden. I re-read this book constantly as a child and adored it. :)
