I Became a "Teaching Model"
|

My name is Sasha. I was killed in the month of April 2008, at Wake Animal Center. I was healthy dog who accidently became a stray dog. I sat in my cage for three weeks. One day, visitors came to see me. They took me to the animal shelter courtyard to play. I felt very happy that day. I started whirring around the courtyard showing them what a great dog I would be...if they only gave me the chance. Well, they decided to look at other dogs. I was taken back to my cage.

I sat there for two more days. Then, a shelter attendant came and opened the door to my cage. She put a leash around my neck and walked me down the hallway. It was morning time. I was excited that maybe, Wake Animal Center found a home for me. Together, the shelter attendant and I walked toward the end of the hallway. I stood on line with a few other shelter dogs. One by one...they let us in the "room" and closed the door. I wondered why the dogs that went in never came out? Then it was my turn. When I got inside the room they patted me on the head and told me I was a good girl. The stuck a needle in me. I realized they killed me. After that, they put me in a plastic bag. They took me to the North Carolina School of Veterinary Medicine. I was used in a classroom as "Teaching Model." They used my dead body to teach a surgical procedure. Then I was thrown in the garbage can. My final resting place is the Wake County landfill.

I wanted my life. I wanted a forever family. Summer is coming. I wanted to play ball, and steal hamburgers from the barbeque grill. I wanted to chase butterflies.

I have received "Universal Knowledge" from the angels. Looking down at earth, I realize who are the "humans" and who are the "animals."

Sadly,

Sasha
