Meredith College Team Earns Second Place in HR Games

| | |
The Meredith College Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) chapter placed second in the Southeast Regional HR Games, held on April 19, 2008. First place went to Virginia Commonwealth University.

The Regional HR Games was held in Knoxville, Tenn., and hosted 18 teams from colleges and universities throughout the Southeast.
Meredith’s Team Onyx competed against teams from NC State University, Peace College, the University of Tennessee, Liberty University, Murray State University and Johnson Wales University. The team consisted of seniors Emily Hedrick, Ginny Nobling, and Sandra Selimovic.
Meredith College fielded three teams in this year’s competition. All three teams placed in the top 12 in the Southeast. Other team members were seniors Misa Woodberry, Victoria Tuttle, Regina Holmes, freshman Ashley Stein and juniors Anne Frazier Elliott and Megan Phillips.

The HR Games is a student competition that promotes certification and the human resource profession. The questions for the matches are divided into categories similar to those used in the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification exam (i.e., Management Practices; Selection and Recruitment; Training and Development; Compensation and Benefits; Employee/Labor Relations; and Health, Safety and Security).

Meredith instructor Kristy M. Eubanks is the faculty advisor for Meredith’s SHRM chapter.
