Who should go early to the pros

Tyler Hansbrough is the only NC player who should probably go and that is due to the fact that he is so much older than the typical college player already. Realistically he should already be out of college. He was a 20 year old freshman and if he stays for his senior year he will be 24 before he plays his first pro game. That may make his draft ranking go lower since there is not much upside potential and the pros are not very bright when it comes to valuing productivity over potential.

The only reason for him to stay in school would be to complete his degree and to enjoy college life for one more year. There is nothing wrong with that and I wish the sports media would play up that angle more for all athletes. In my opinion, the sports media is a bigger factor in players turning pro early than anything else. A player is basically made to feel like there is something wrong with him for wanting to stay in college four years. A top ranked recruit starts being bombarded the day they arrive on campus with questions about when they will leave for the pros. It takes a very strong-willed individual like Shane Battier or Tim Duncan to not give in to the temptation to rush life. They realized that the most enjoyment they would ever get in sports comes before they start being paid for it so they chose to enjoy it for one or two more years.
