New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday, citing an anonymous top administration official. Spitzer, who is married with three daughters, made an announcement Monday about the scandal.
Those who hold office have higher expectations about how they live than "normal" people so we tend to jump on them when they make mistakes. Sure, Spitzer and any elected official who does things like this need to be held accountable but do we forget that these are normal people too? Do we make a bigger deal about it than we should?

Spitzer and the Law
Spitzer has for years been riding his white charger, presenting himself as a white knight and the scourge of evildoers. Now we see his true colors. He should be given a speedy trial, a quick conviction and swift execution, not necessarily in that order.
Every person that he has prosecuted should either be given a new trial or have the charges dropped.
