Local author Oie Osterkamp will kick off InterAct's 2010 Authors Series on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at InterAct's Pass It On thrift store in Fuquay-Varina. Oie will share inspirational insights about life and relationships from his first book, Being a Sharefish in a Selfish World.
InterAct's Authors Series takes place quarterly and provides the community with the opportunity to hear from a local author, as well as learn about InterAct's services for families impacted by domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.

Join InterAct in recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month by attending our annual Open House & Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm at InterAct's Family Safety & Empowerment Center.
- October 20 - Authors Series with Johnny Lee, 6pm to 7:30, at InterAct’s Family & Empowerment Center.
Johnny is the director of Peace at Work, an agency dedicated to violence prevention in and through the workplace. He is also the author of the book, "Domestic Violence in the Workplace," published in 2005.
“Victims of violence often suffer in silence, not knowing where to turn, with little or no guidance and support. Sadly, this tragedy does not just affect adults. Even when children are not directly injured by violence, exposure to violence in the home can contribute to behavioral, social, and emotional problems. High school students who report having experienced physical violence in a dating relationship are more likely to use drugs and alcohol, are at greater risk of suicide, and may carry patterns of abuse into future relationships.
WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter Amanda Lamb will share from her true crime book, "Deadly Dose: The Untold Story of a Homicide Investigator's Crusade for Truth and Justice," at InterAct’s Authors Series on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at InterAct's Family Safety & Empowerment Center.

Our dear local author Lila Hopkins shared her latest novel, "The Master Craftsman," at InterAct’s Authors Series on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at InterAct's Family Safety & Empowerment Center. Lila writes a regular column for the Fuquay-Varina Independent and has written several other books, including "Strike A Golden Chord" and "Weave Me A Song." She was recently honored with the Book of the Year Award in Family Drama by the High Country Writer's Club for her latest novel, "The Master Craftsman."
Many of her friends from Fuquay-Varina's Retirement Community were present at this event to support Lila. She did a very inspiring presentation on her book and her insights. Lila and the audience also had a great time together.
Family Fun Run to Benefit Nancy's Butterfly Fund
Nancy's Butterfly Fund is hosting a Family Fun Run on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre's Symphony Lake in Cary, North Carolina. The race marks the one-year anniversary of Nancy Cooper's death, a Cary mother whose friends created the fund in her memory.
Nancy's Butterfly Fund will provide financial assistance to individuals and families participating in Interact's domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. The goal is to minimize the financial barriers that may prevent people from leaving violent, unsafe homes.
