Paul Ehrlich, one of the leading enviros and junk scientists, has warned decade after decade that within the next 10 years there will be mass starvation because this trembling Earth will be unable to provide food, shelter or energy for an "exploding" population. Ehrlich does not say, "Oops, sorry," when his predictions bump up against reality, but instead makes those same predictions all over again. And the media eat it up.

cities...aren't issuing the...dire warnings...called for.
drought experts...using the term catastrophic.
conservations needs to be a household rule.
neither Raleigh nor Durham has imposed...strictest...limits.
Raleigh City Council...declined...surcharge...intended to cut consumption.
ban on irrigation and pressure washing.
water savings would be worthwhile as an emergency measure.
...every new home...means more demand on scarce water supplies.
...the region may look back on these days as a water conservation opportunity down the drain.

Laura Meckler reports on Health and Human Services.
The Department of Health and Human Services appointed Susan Orr — who has spoken out against contraception — to a post responsible for U.S. contraception programs.
Orr, who will be acting deputy assistant secretary for population affairs, has been directing child welfare programs in another branch of HHS. Prior to joining the Bush administration, Orr was senior director for marriage and family at the Family Research Council, a conservative group that favors abstinence-only education and opposes federal money for contraception.
