I have had my camera for about 2 years so I am just learning to take pictures. This picture is so sharp and the detail is awesome. The eyes are so big.Great picture
Is it rotated?
This is an amazing shot-thank you for sharing your photo tips too.
This photo was made late in the day, about 6:00, almost too late to catch the horizontal effect I prefer. This wasp and other black insects reflect sunlight so the outcome looks better if the photo is made in a shaded area or late in the day. I am happy how the light shows off the orange-red of the tail section. I like making shots like the honeybee around 3 or 4:00 in the afternoon on a clear day when the sun is horizontal in the sky.
Wonderful shot! What time of day was it? The reflections look like mid-day, but the lighting is not mid-day harsh. What's your secret?!
I use photoshop 6.0. Once you finish you photo go to "image, resize" and use canvas. You will see a popup and you can place numbers in the upper and lower blocks. I use around .05 for the inter line, 1.10 for the matte and .75 for the frame. You get a choice of black, gray, white or other. If I want different colors I use other. The number I gave will vary depending on the size of you photo, you may want to play with the settings. I just use these numbers as a starting place. Good luck and have fun,
Hi, thanks for the comment. I've been meaning to crop that pedal out, but just haven't had the time! LOL I was riding with my husband, and while going into the curve, just held my hand down as far as it would go and snapped our friends up ahead. It was great! And it does take nerves to go on that little road. Most of the way up is really only one lane, but we met several cars.....that was a little scary.
Yeah, it is a shame that they tear them down every morning. Maybe the webs lose their stickyness or something. If I were an Orb Weaver though, I'd just be lazy and use the same web until it wore out completely. XD

Thanks!

I just saw mention of image sharpening in the how to forum on landscapes. It's a great discussion.
Someone on that forum asked how you know how much sharpening to do. My current feeling is that the sharpening tool when used too much will make your picture look like it's made up of tiny horizontal and vertical lines. When you blow up the picture, these lines are disturbing. Unless I see those lines, I figure I'm ok.
She's awesome. I don't really like McCain, but I could live with him as President if Sarah Palin is VP.

Then your vote is not needed.
Beautiful!
I think the subject and background really compliment each other.
That sounds awesome-when we were at Wrightsville earlier this year a flock of heron flew over the beach at sunset -unfortunately they were too far away for a decent photo but were a pretty amazing sight. I am keen to "capture" a heron in flight but so far no luck:( I probably need to spend a day in a good heron location, armed with camera, tripod and loads of patience!!
Agree! The wizard of Id makes my day. Please keep it.
Yes, they do 'hang out in tall trees'. In the early spring Great Blues also nest in tall trees. I have seen dozens of nest along a canal that runs adjacent to the Cape Fear River. You could see the Great Blues flying all around the nest. That was about 5 years ago but I will never forget the wonderful experience of observing the birds.
Great shot!!! Isn't this a beautiful butterfly! The one I photographed was the closest I ever got to a Red-Spotted Purple Admiral and the only other time I saw one was at the same farm pond last year.
Good shot! I am seeing these moths also in my yard now on my sedum.
This is a great shot, you must have nerves of steel to let go with one hand for a photo!!! I would crop the pedal out of the bottom left hane corner and then print this out-it would make a nice 8 by 10 or even a poster!
